OUR VISION

Equal access to energy efficiency and demand response programs. It can be hard to know where to start and even harder to catch up with evolving program regulations. Whether you're a large ESCO, a local contractor, a small business owner or a public agency, you shouldn't feel like these programs are out of your reach.

About Parakeet

Our mission at Parakeet is to facilitate energy program enrollment so you can focus on what you do best!

The team at Parakeet are known for their incredible attention to detail, dedication to their clients and wealth of program knowledge across a wide array of energy-saving opportunities. These advantages produce faster project turn-around times and high-accuracy energy savings estimates.

When IOU (Investor-Owned Utility) energy efficiency programs first launched, they were easy to navigate. But with each year, these programs have become significantly more complex. Parakeet makes it a priority to stay ahead of the curve with program updates. Our lead consultant, Amanda Homa, has been recognized as an expert in analyzing project feasibility and determining the most advantageous path forward for her clients. At times when contractors were ready to give up, she and her team have been able to step in to get projects approved for financing and incentives.

While Parakeet handles projects in all non-residential customer sectors, we particularly love working with municipalities and school districts to help these customers with tighter budgets benefit from the energy upgrades they deserve!

Meet Your New Program Consultant

An energy retrofit project is nothing more than an idea until financing solutions are secured - that's when the goal becomes a reality. I have been managing commercial rebate and loan applications for over seven years now. I started off working for a local lighting contractor. As I observed peers in the industry getting tangled up in the webs of energy program regulations, I became obsessed with learning the ins and outs of these programs. Each one operates differently, and each project has unique circumstances; I viewed each one as a puzzle waiting to be solved. As my experience grew, I gained recognition from program administrators who were impressed by my understanding of the deeper concepts governing these programs, an understanding that gives me the tools to strategize effectively and create solutions. Since energy programs continue to evolve, keeping up with the changes is a full-time job, one that most contractors don't have the bandwidth for. I was asked to make my services as a program consultant available to more California contractors. Thus, Parakeet Project Development was born as a response to a clear need in bridging the gap between contractor, utility company, program administrator and end-use customer.

I was born in Brazil, but spent most of my life near San Francisco. I studied finance but found greater satisfaction in private teaching, maybe because I love the human interaction. I taught ESL and Portuguese. Learning a second language is like solving hundreds of tiny puzzles. Teaching a second language is like guiding someone through those puzzles. Oddly enough, my work now involves elements of financing. But in reality, I'm still just guiding people through puzzles. The difference is that when these puzzles are solved, it leaves the world a little greener.

"A native of Southern California, I love the thought of helping those in my 'extended' community help the planet. That and the people I get to work with at Parakeet are what drew me to the team. When not at work, I enjoy outdoor activities, spending quality time with friends, and volunteering my time to help my local community."

"From managing restaurants to crafting cabinets, overseeing construction projects and running a window cleaning business, I'm used to wearing many hats - each adding a sharp eye for detail and a no-nonsense approach to operations. Today, I blend financial expertise with hands-on experience to drive efficiency and growth. When not crunching numbers, you'll likely find me in the kitchen cooking up a storm or brewing the perfect shot of espresso on my antique machine."
